International Mother Language Day is observed every year to promote peace and multilingualism and protect all mother languages. Globally 40% of the population does not have access to education in the language they speak. But progress is being made in multilingual education with a growing understanding of its importance, particularly in early schooling, and more commitment to its development. This year’s celebration theme is “Multilingual Education – a Necessity to Transform Education”.
At SpringValley School, learners and members of staff came to school in their cultural attire and traditional food for the celebration. The mode of greeting/presentations for that day was in our various native dialects. Let us join hands to teach our children our cultural values and preserve our mother tongue!

Youngster Letter To Santa Claus
2nd November 2022.
Youngsters’ letters to Santa Claus are one of the most magical parts of the yuletide season. The tradition of writing letters to Santa dates back to the 1800s. Originally, it was Santa who wrote letters to the youngsters, particularly those on the naughty list who needed a little nudge to make their way to the nice list. Then in 1871, artist Thomas Nast drew an image of Santa sorting through mail that was sent to him, and the practice grew from there. Today it’s an integral part of Christmas for most youngsters, and also one that is very much cherished Our learners were opportuned to write letters to Santa requesting for a Christmas gift on Wednesday the 2nd of November, 2022. It did not only teach them the importance of good behaviour, but they also learnt how a post office works; from stamping the letter to posting the letter. It was an exciting time for all the pupils and students of Spring Valley School.
